How to Use Anti-Bacterial Cleaning Wipes Effectively

Anti-bacterial wipes are designed to eliminate bacteria from your home, but when used incorrectly, they can just spread the germs around rather than eliminating them. This can actually make your home more, and not less, infested by bacteria. Follow these easy steps to use anti-bacterial cleaning wipes effectively.

  1. First: Get the surface wet

It is the liquid on anti-bacterial wipes that makes them effective at eliminating bacteria. Only use a wipe as long as it is getting the surface you are cleaning visibly damp. If the surface is not wet after use, then it is not clean. Discard the wipe that is too dry, and start cleaning with a new one.

  2. Second: Use a new wipe on every surface

One or two wipes cannot effectively clean one room, much less a whole house. Clean a single surface with a wipe and then discard it and use a new one. This prevents cross contamination. If you discard a wipe after wiping down a single surface, you cannot pass germs from object to object. For an extra level of care, wash your hands between wipes as well.

  3. Third: Allow each surface to air dry

Do not go back over surfaces with a paper towel to wipe it clean or dry it off. It is important that the anti-bacterial agent remain on the surface and dry there. Wiping the surface down before it dries can not only reintroduce germs to the surface but can also wipe away the the anti-bacterial agents used on the surface before they kill the bacteria that was present there.
